She was truly a homemaker. Besides her famiy, she took many others into her home. Her mother and father, Edward Mantzey Jr, Ruth Mantzey, Bertha Mantzey Wray and Martha Mantzey Turner.
She suffered a series of strokes, the first March 1944. She broke her hip Sept. 1957 and was hospitalized. She resided at Susan`s Nurshing Home for eight years and died due to a stroke.

Mrs. Elva May Mantzey, 78, a lifelong resident of Livingston Co, died at 6:00 pm Sat. eve. in a local nursing home. She had been in failing health seven years and seriously ill one week.
Mrs. Mantzey, a daughter of Robert Lee Knox and Amy Jane (Davis) Knox, was born on July 24, 1886, at Blue Mound and became a member of the Blue Mound Christian Christian Church when a young girl. She later transferred her membership to the Christian Church in Chillicothe. She attended school at Blue Mound.
On Sept. 14, 1910, she married Charles Mantzey. The couple spend their entire married life on a farm near Dawn with the exception of three years in Chillicothe.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Howard Mantzey, Dawn; three daughters, Mrs. Velma Evans, Dawn, Mrs. Martha James, St. Louis, and Mrs. Louise Pruett, Kansas City; a brother, B. R. Knox, Independence and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, an infant son; two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mantzey will be held at 2:00 Tues. afternoon at the Dawn Federated Church with the Rev. Norman Irons officiating.
Interment will be in the Collar Cem., north of Dawn.
The body of Mrs. Mantzey will lie in state at the Norman Funeral Home until noon Tues. at which time it will be taken to the church to lie in state until the hour of the services.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elva May Mantzey, 78, wife of Charles Mantzey, who died Saturday evening were held at 2:00, Tuesday afternoon at the Dawn Federated Church. The Rev. Norman Irons, pastor, officiated.
Mrs. Paul Jones and Harold Huges, for the funeral music, sang "Ivory Palaces" and "No Night There". Mrs. Gladys Howes accompanied.
Pallbearers were Alvis Sperry, Ben Barry, Everett Haynes, Neal Mead, Delmar Bland and Maurice Livingston.
Burial was in the Collar Cemetery, under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home.
