The death date for Esther Luckey Knox was recorded in "Shakers of Ohio" by J. P. MacLean Ph.D., page 311.
"September 8th, 1814: Esther Knox Departed this life in the 54th year of her age. She had been a zelious believer from the time she first received the Gospel -- "
A "fever" was moving through the Shaker community and many were taken violently sick. (probably a combination of cholera and yellow fever). It is assumed this is Esther`s cause of death.
The journal referred to West Union Village, IN. It is assumed that is where she died and where she is buried, although the Shakers did not keep burial records. The community at West Union Village was abandoned about 1827. No part of it exists and there is no sign of a graveyard.
