Notes:
(From Eddie Widener)
As to Callie I have this information. In a General Affidavit for my Grandmother to receive a pension after the death of Wm. H. Callie D. Williams, age 49 years, whose P.O. is Farmington, County of Fulton, State of Illinois, writes the following: I am the sister of William H. Widner, deceased who was a member of Co B, 44th regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry and enlisted on the 20th day of August A.D. 1861 and was discharged on the 18th of May, 1864 at Indianapolis, Indiana. At the time of his enlistment I lived on a farm with my parents. My brother William H. Widner being a member of the family. I recall perfectly his enlistment as a soldier and his final return from the service. I know that he was not, before that time nor thereafter, in the service of the United States as a soldier. I know that he was the husband of the claimant, Elizabeth C. Widner and that he was not married before his marriage to her. Signed Callie D. Williams June 23, 1908
