Leabow, I. G. - Dec. 15, 1937
I. G. Leabow, prominent Middlesboro attorney and former member of the Tennessee state legislature, died at 4 a.m. Sunday at his home in Middlesboro, following an illness of two weeks. He was 76 years old.
Mr. Leabow moved from Claiborne county to Middlesboro 30 years ago, after serving in various political capacities in his native state of Tennessee. He was appointed clerk and master of chancery court in Claiborne county at 21 years and served for 12 years. Before that he was a school teacher. He was admitted to the bar while a clerk and master and was elected to the state legislature for the 1897-1898 term.
Funeral services were conducted last Monday at the Middlesboro home and the body later removed to Tazewell where interment was made in the Irish cemetery.
Mr. Leabow is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Cora Francisco of Claiborne county; three sons, Edwin, Paul and I. G. Leabow, Jr. of Los Angeles, Calif., and one daughter, Mrs. C. V. Dickson of Middlesboro.
