OBITUARY-AFTER A LINGERING ILLNESS DEATH COMES ------------------------------------- As a Merciful Release to the Weary and Imprisoned Soul of Mrs. Elizabeth Deer. Mrs. Elizabeth Deer, after a lingering illness covering a long period, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Arrowsmith, in Orange street Thursday morning at one o`clock. During the past two weeks of her illness she had fallen rapidly, but on Wednesday was able to be up and about the house. She was seized with a vomiting spell about midnight, and swooned away while in the throes of the same. She was a sufferer from dropsy and kidney trouble. Deceased was born in West Liberty 75 years ago, and moved to Tremont with her parents, John and Susan King, when quite young. She was twice married, her first husband being James Austin. She was married to him in 1853, and he died in 1862, one daughter, Mrs. Arrowsmith, having been born to them. She was again married in 1867 to Franklin Deer. The funeral will be held from the late home Saturday morning at ten o`clock. Interment at Tremont.
