Notes:
John Purcell and wife had 11 children. After their marriage they lived in Ripley and Rush counties, Ind., until 1836, then moving to Pike county Ill., from whence five years later they came to Livingston county, Mo., settling near the center of Blue Mound township. They were kind-hearted, hospitable people, people respected by all who knew them.
