Notes:
There are two versions of when and on which ship the Beeler family first came to the USA.
John, Peter and Joseph heard of the fabulous land of America. They went to Amsterdam and boarded the Charming Polly via London to America. Their port was no the coast of Virginia from where they came to the Shenandoah Valley by way of Big Lick, VA. They stayed for a few years in what is now Sullivan Co. Joseph who was the son of John Beeler, fought in the Mattle of Kings Mt. After the war was over they set out through the wilderness until they came in sight of the place which is now Washburn, TN. They procurred land and built their home on the south bank of Williams Creek. Joseph was the founder of Beeler`s Chapel Church which was built of logs on top of Hines Ridge. He is buried in the cemetery on the hill in front of the old home place. A handsome DAR marker stands at his head, with the words, Joseph Beeler
