"Death By Lightning"
An aged and well known lady killed last Sunday. We learned yesterday from Captain Ault, of the Knoxville and Ohio railroad, of a sad death by lighting. Near Speedwell in Claiborne county an old and respected couple known for miles around as "Uncle Davy" and " Aunt Sally" Rodgers, have lived for many years. Last Sunday morning while the old lady was cooking breakfast and was standing near the stove lightning struck her and killed her instantly. The old gentleman was in the room at the time and received slight injuries from the stroke.
The couple were between seventy and eighty years old, and were widely known throughout Claiborne and adjoining counties. The death of "Aunt Sally" is lamented by all and it will cast a deep gloom over that section of the county.
