Notes: Obituary of Mary Camella Davis Knox Kerns 1861-1941:

She passed away at the home of her daughter in Ashland, KS, Nov. 1, 1941. On Sept. 26, 1880 she was married to Henry Newton Knox, who preceded her in death, Feb. 20, 1896. To this union was born eight children, two, John R and Myrtle E, dying in infancy.

On March 1, 1898, she was married to Joseph Clark Kern and to this was born one daughter. In 1900 she moved with her family to Alva, OK., later to a home near Laverne, OK, which place has been her home until failing health made it necessary to live in the homes of her children.

She leaves to mourn her passing three sons: Bert Knox, Seattle, WA, William D. of Dell, Mont, and four daughters: Etta E Snyder, Alva, OK, Minnie A Baker, Ashland, KS, Lydia M McElhiney of Prosser, WA and Hattie L McDermott, Prosser, WA. A number of grandchildren and great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. A. J. Gibbons of Pritchett, CO, a brother, Harvey A Davis, Ames, IA.

She also leave several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Mrs. Kerns was a devout Christian, going into the church when a young girl. She still held her membership in the Mount Hope Christian Church in Blue Mound where she was laid to rest in Blue Mound Cemetery. One son, William D Knox, and two daughters, Mrs. Etta Snyder and Mrs. Minnie Baker, accompanied the body and was present at the internment.

A son, Edward N of Dillon MT, survives.
