per Marianne Shields Nordberg, ancestry.com 10/13/1998: Ran a mill in Paris, KY for Thomas Jones, Sr. in 1805-09. Supposedly later purchased it and then sold it ca. 1825.
per Vicki Knox Larson, ancestry.com, 11/8/1998: Lived in Mason Co, KY, just across the river from Brown Co, OH in 1800, later in 1820, near daughter, Jemima and Robert Knox.
Members of the Knox and Shields families are noted in the "Shakers of Ohio" a Shaker journal & were involved in the movement in KY.
From: History of Livingston County, from The History of Caldwell and Livingston Counties, Missouri. 1886 Chapter XXII: Mount Hope Christian Church - Was organized in the fall of 1884, with the following members: J. R. Davis and wife, R. L. Knox and wife, H. M. Knox and wife, John Burton and wife, Wm. Shields and wife, Wm. Marker and wife, Porter Minnis and wife, P. Knox and wife, B. F. Knox and wife, George Carr and wife, John Sullivan and wife and Susan Knox. Rev. Robert Knox has ministered to the spiritual needs of the church ever since it`s organization. At a cost of $800 a neat frame church building was erected in 1885. The present number of members is 60. The Sabbath-school has about thirty scholars. H. N. Knox is superintendent of the school. The church building is located on section 35-56-24.
1/3/2018 from Find a Grave: There is a William Shields buried in Blackwell Cemetery, Fairfax, Monroe Co, IN. There is no picture of the tombstone. There is no listing of a Nancy Shields in that cemetery.
